Vida Oblak (nee Kosnik), 88 years old, passed away August 25, 2020. She was born June 7, 1932 in Cerknica, Slovenija, daughter of the late Martin and the late Amalija (nee Gorenc) Kosnik. Wife of the late Anton Oblak. Mother of Mark (Veronica). Grandmother of Matthew. Sister of Frank (Laverne, dec.) and Martina (Mark) Jakomin and the following deceased: Srecko (Boza) from Slovenija and Magda (Ivan, dec.) Boh. Aunt of many.
Resident of Powell, Ohio since 2017, previously residing in St. Vitus Village, Euclid and Cleveland. In 1955 Vida came to Cleveland from Slovenia. She was a member of St. Vitus Parish, St. Vitus School Mother’s Club, St. Vitus choir Lira, St. Vitus Altar Society, Slovenska pristava, Pristavski upokojenci and KSKJ. She had a great love of the Slovenian language and literature. She worked as a translator of Slovenian and taught Slovenian for many years at St. Vitus Slovenian Language School and at St. Mary of the Assumption’s Slovenian School (Collinwood). She loved to sing. Vida was a member of the Akademski zbor of the University of Ljubljana, St. Vitus Church Choir Lira and Korotan. An avid reader, Vida was an intellectual and knew seven languages. She will be remembered most as a quiet, reserved, caring, gentle and friendly woman. Vida was devoted to her family and faith. She will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to meet for the Mass of Christian Burial Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 10 AM at St. Vitus Catholic Church. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Vida at THE CHURCH SATURDAY MORNING 9-10 AM.
